Shower Doors, Measured Before Glass Is Ordered
Frameless, semi-frameless or framed, a shower door is a measuring job before it is ever a glass job. The Renaissance Handyman fits, seals and installs the enclosure so it drains the way it is supposed to, not just looks like it does.

Frameless, semi-frameless and framed ask different things of the wall
A custom frameless enclosure asks more of the wall and curb underneath it than a framed door does, because there is no metal perimeter to hide a small amount of movement. Before glass gets ordered for a frameless or semi-frameless door, what is behind that wall and curb has to be able to hold it.

Measuring for glass
Shower glass gets cut to order, so the measuring has to happen before anything is ordered, not after. Walls in an older shoreline home are rarely perfectly plumb, and a template taken too quickly is how a door ends up with a gap it should not have.
That template stage is not a step we rush, because a mistake there means glass that has already been cut wrong.
Water management
A shower door that leaks is almost always one that was hung to look right rather than to drain right. Sweeps, seals and slope all have to work together, and a door with the sweep installed backwards or the wrong slope on the track will let water out no matter how good the glass looks.
Repair, replacement and surface protection
Not every job is a new install. We also repair and replace existing shower door enclosures, and offer a surface protection application on the glass itself, so a door that is otherwise sound does not need to be torn out over hardware or seals.
